Peace Of Mind Guitar Lesson – Boston

In this Peace of Mind guitar lesson video series, I will show you how to play this rock classic by Boston in it's entirety note-for-note.

We will be using standard tuning for this one, just like the original recording.

In the first Peace Of Mind guitar lesson, I will show you how to play the huge guitar riff that opens this legendary track.

This little riff does move around a bit but shouldn't be anything that will give most guitar players much trouble.

I nice sustaining guitar sound will help you get the right affect while playing this riff. Just let all of the notes sustain as long as possible.

As for the quick shift, it is only a couple of frets but it does happen rather fast. The key here is to just use the right fingerings to make sure that you are prepared for the quick shift.

Starting in the second video, I will show you how to play all the other rhythm guitar parts. There are some really cool riffs in this one so hopefully you will watch the video in it's entirety.

In the third and final video lesson, I will tackle all of the guitar solos, including all of the harmony guitar parts. 🙂

The main guitar solo can be quite the challenge, especially if you are trying to play it with just one guitarist. On the original recording, the main guitar solo is a series of overdubbed guitars that are kinda dueling back and forth. You can play all of those parts on one guitar (like I do at the beginning of the video lesson), but it requires a lot of jumping around the fretboard.

After the main solo comes a nice harmony guitar solo and I will demonstrate both parts.

At the end of the lesson I will show you how to play all of the harmony guitar parts of the outro solo. Nothing too hard to play in that solo, just a lot of harmony guitar parts to memorize. 🙂

Hope you guys enjoy this one!

    Hi Carl,
Great lesson. I love Boston. I do wish you had included the chords at the beginning before the lead. I hope you are doing well.

    Hi Carl,

Terrific site and instruction. Back into the guitar after life got in the way. Appreciate all the incredible amount of work that goes into this site! Hitch a Ride solo would be a great addition to your Boston repertoire.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Hi Carl,
Any chance you’d consider doing the whole song, even if you don’t get the # of likes needed?
My kids are on a Boston kick and I’d like to learn and play this with them – it just wouldn’t be right with the guitar missing!
Either way – thanks for what you’ve put out here already!

Hey Carl, I was woundering since the video got 1 thousand likes, can we get the whole song now, with all guitar parts? It would be great if you could. Thanks 🙂
