Redemption Song Guitar Lesson – Bob Marley & the Wailers

In this Redemption Song guitar lesson video, I will show you all the guitar chords to this acoustic classic by Bob Marley & the Wailers.

"Redemption Song" was rare in that it includes just Bob Marley singing and playing solo acoustic guitar. There was also a full band version recorded, but the striped down acoustic version is the one that most people still recognize.

Bob Marley uses a pretty unorthodox picking style which I will cover in the video lesson. It employs the thumb throughout most of the song to play both the single note riffs and the chordal strums that accompany the vocals.

All of the chords are kept pretty simple as well, making this Redemption Song guitar lesson doable for just about any level of guitarist. Simply put, if you can play basic open chords in rhythm, learning how to play "Redemption Song" should not be too much of a challenge for you.

It is amazing how something so simple can become such a profound musical statement. I hope this lesson will helps you get it under your fingers quickly.

Thanks for watching!

Great lesson and always great to see how versatile your catalogue is – was wondering if you could do a Jewish holida song for Hanukkah one that is semi mainstream – maybe Miracle by Matisyahu (Jewish Reggae- guess thats a thing) – he has an acoustic version that is a great song and would be a lot of fun. Thanks.
