A quick note, this Runaround guitar lesson is taught in standard tuning even though the original tuning on the album is Eb.
The reason I teach this kind of stuff in standard tuning is so that people with floating trem systems don't have to go through the trouble of re-tuning their guitars to more easily follow along with the lesson.
We will learn the riff exactly like Eddie plays it, but if you want to play along with him on the album you will need to tune your guitar a half-step down to sound in tune with him.
Now for the riff itself, it can produce quite the challenge. It moves around A LOT and has some quick little bends to deal with.
I just love how it flows though. There is so much melody and movement in the riff that I think it is a lot of fun to play as well as listen to.
Take your time and break it up into sections. Trying to memorize the riff too fast may tend to kinda tie your hands into knots. 🙂
