Runaway Guitar Lesson – Bon Jovi

In this Runaway guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this early Bon Jovi hit in it's entirety.

One quick note, although I mention Richie Sambora throughout the video, it has been brought to my attention that this was before he was in the band. The great session guitarist Tim Pierce is the guitarist on the track. 🙂

The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.

There are some interesting guitar parts in this one. Guitarist Tim Pierce uses basic chords around single note riffs for the verse sections. However, during the pre-chorus sections, he uses a combination of harmonics, fretted notes and the whammy bar for some rather unique guitar lines.

The chorus also uses some common chords and single note riffs.

Tim Pierce does have an absolutely killer solo in this one and I will cover it note-for-note.

There are a couple sections of this solo that will be difficult to get up to speed unless you are an advanced player, especially the second half of the solo.

Have fun with this classic!
