The Unforgiven III Guitar Lesson – Metallica
In this The Unforgiven III guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great song from their Death Magnetic album.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
In this lesson, I have arranged the piano intro for guitar and then gone through each of the guitar riffs of the song in the order that each one appears on the original recording.
The are some really cool sections in this one. My favorite is probably the clean riff that has James playing a relatively simple pedal riff riff, while Kirk plays a complex and challenging series of arpeggios over it. It creates a very cool vibe when those two riffs are working together.
I also won't be covering all of Kirk's overdubbed fills, instead sticking with the main rhythm guitar parts.
For Kirk's solo, instead of attempting a note-for-note breakdown like I usually do, I will show you some of the main licks that he is playing along with the scale patterns that are being used. This solo contains a lot of signature Kirk Hammett licks, so if you are reasonably familiar with his style, you won't have a very difficult time recreating this solo after watching this lesson.
Have fun with this one! Carl...
