This Boy Guitar Chords – The Beatles

In this guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play all the guitar chords for The Beatles' "This Boy".

Originally released in 1963, "This Boy" uses a couple of great chord progressions to support the great vocal melodies and harmonies written by John Lennon (credited Lennon-McCartney).

I will also show you how to play George Harrison's short solo using octaves at the end of the song.

The song is very doo-wop influenced, with John Lennon stating that he was trying to write a song in the style of Smokey Robinson.

There are a few dominant 7th chords used in "This Boy", along with a few basic bar chords as well. But, if you can confidently play those I don't think you will have much trouble getting the chords under your fingers if you are at least at an upper beginner level.

In addition to the chord work, "This Boy" is also a great rhythm guitar workout. It will use some quick 16th note strumming followed by some quick pick hand muting. I will demonstrate how to perform all of the rhythms so you will know exactly how it is done with minimal effort.

I hope you guys enjoy learning this early classic by The Beatles!
