Yngwie Malmsteen Style Pedal Tone Lick

This installment of the "Lick Of The Week" series at guitarlessons365.com focuses on the pedal tone picking style of Yngwie Malmsteen.

This exciting technique is influenced by the baroque music of J.S. Bach and creates a very flowing guitar sound. The technique required to play this lick is pretty straightforward, it just may take a little while to get the coordination down with all the alternate picking across strings.

Start slow then work it up to speed just like you would with any other guitar lesson. Also, even though Yngwie usually plays this type of lick at extremely fast speeds, it also sounds quite beautiful when played slowly. So you should also experiment with it when playing melodic melodies in your improvisations.
