In My Life Guitar Lesson – The Beatles
With this In My Life guitar lesson video you are going to learn how to play all of this Beatles classic in it's entirety.
In My Life has always been one of my favorite songs by The Beatles. The lyrics and floating melody just seem to strike a chord with a lot of people.
As a guitarist there are also some nice things to learn. Starting with the opening riff that is simple yet extremely effective. I bet that there are many guitarists in the world that actually used this opening guitar riff as the very first riff they ever learned. I actually think it would be great for that!
As we get into the verse we do run into quite a few barre chords. If you know your barre chords there won't be anything too challenging here. If you aren't familiar with barre chords check out my lessons on them in the links below and they will help learn how to play them so you can get started on learning In My Life.
The two main chord progressions you will learn in this In My Life guitar lesson are pretty unique in themselves. We even have a cool A7/G chord that you might not have seen before. That doesn't mean that it is hard to play because it isn't, you will simply be adding a new chord to your arsenal. 🙂
So even if you are just starting out learning the guitar, I think In My Life would be great for anyone to play. Besides being a great song it is also a nice exercise for those developing basic barre chord technique.
Be sure to keep it light though. Dynamically the strumming is very subdued throughout the entire song except for perhaps during the main riff. Keep this in mind to more accurately reproduce the feel of this legendary Beatles song.
Enjoy! Carl..

Love dis
Great lesson as always. Would love to see some Eagles song lessons!
Got a ton of Eagles lessons on the site. Did you not see those?
Such a good song. Thanks for the lesson, Carl. Love that A7 with a G in the bass. I saw George Harrison in Vancouver in 1976 or ’77 and he did this song, the only Beatles song I think he did the whole set.
