In this Sugar guitar chords lesson, I will show you how to play this No.1 hit by Maroon 5 in just a couple of minutes.
The entire song contains just four chords repeated again and again in a very distinct rhythm. Now the cool thing here is that these are not your typical open position major and minor chords.
Guitarist James Valentine has certainly done his fair share of chord studies on the guitar and found an interesting combination of chords that could be the vehicle for a massive pop/rock hit.
For those of you who have difficulty playing barre chords, I suggest you check out my barre chord lessons before trying to play "Sugar" since it contains all barre chords.
Also, you will want to play close attention during the lesson to what strings I am strumming. For the most part you are going to try and avoid hitting the high E string. This can be difficult to do in the beginning, but if you practice it enough you will get a good feel for it pretty quickly. At least I hope so! 🙂
So take a few minutes and master this 4 chord progression to one of thand impress your friends! Good Luck!
